Ben McKenzie, the actor known for his role in ‘The OC’, has urged Congress to block the CLARITY Act, a cryptocurrency bill, due to President Trump’s financial ties to the digital asset industry. He joined Democratic senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Van Hollen at a Capitol Hill anti-corruption forum to lobby against the bill. Trump made $2 billion last year, with $1.4 billion coming from cryptocurrency profits that exploit weaknesses in current law. New York Attorney General Letitia James also warned that the act could weaken state enforcement against crypto fraud. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has postponed consideration of the bill until September.
