Nvidia is in talks to invest up to $3 billion in SB Energy, a SoftBank subsidiary developing a massive planned Ohio data center project for OpenAI. This investment would be part of Nvidia’s discussions with OpenAI and SB Energy on providing around $100 billion in credit support for the planned Ohio data center campus. Nvidia would invest half of the $3 billion when the deal is signed and the other half as part of SB Energy’s planned IPO, which could raise at least $5 billion as soon as next month. Founded in 2019 and also backed by OpenAI, SB Energy develops large-scale power and data center infrastructure projects to support rising demand tied to AI workloads.
