Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang presented an ambitious reshoring strategy centered on artificial intelligence, describing the construction of AI factories as the largest domestic industrial buildout in a generation. A 2 billion dollar partnership with Coherent will expand a facility in Sherman, Texas to produce indium phosphide lasers used in chip interconnects, creating approximately 1,000 jobs. Nvidia estimates that AI infrastructure initiatives have already generated roughly 500,000 jobs across the United States, with third-party investments projected to exceed 500 billion dollars. The company committed to procuring hundreds of billions of dollars in US-manufactured electronics over four years, with Blackwell and Grace Blackwell architectures produced domestically by TSMC and assembled by Foxconn and Wistron, all with expanded US operations. Nvidia is pursuing multi-gigawatt AI factory capacity, starting with 4.25 GW in Ohio.
