Laser Digital Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Nomura’s digital assets division, has obtained its registration as a Crypto Asset Exchange Service Provider from Japanese regulators. This represents Japan’s first new crypto asset industry registration in four years. The firm plans to focus on providing liquidity for domestic virtual asset service providers, before eventually offering digital asset trading opportunities to institutional investors. According to a survey conducted by Nomura and Laser Digital, 65% of institutional investors surveyed view crypto assets as a diversification tool, and nearly 79% say they plan to invest in the asset class over the next three years.
