MetaMask launched Agent Wallet on Thursday, a self-custodial wallet enabling AI agents to trade crypto autonomously within user-defined limits. The system offers two modes: Guard Mode, the default setting with protocol allowlists and 2FA approval, and Beast Mode, which removes the allowlist and relies solely on real-time threat scanning as the safety net, while spending caps remain in place. Every transaction undergoes simulation, threat scanning, and MEV protection, with eligible trades receiving up to $10,000 per month in loss coverage. With roughly 25% of the wallet market, MetaMask is stepping into a space where Coinbase launched agentic wallets in February and MoonPay has been building since spring, as bitcoin hovers around $65,000 and BTC ETFs saw $138 million in net inflows.
