Over 100,000 people have signed a mass ethics complaint against FIFA President Gianni Infantino, launched by human rights NGO FairSquare under the « Reboot FIFA » campaign. The complaint accuses Infantino of violating FIFA’s political neutrality rules by awarding the FIFA Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump in December 2025, after personally lobbying for him to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Infantino also proposed selling a 20% stake in World Cup rights for approximately $4.2 billion through FIFA Forward Enterprise, a plan that UEFA, CONCACAF, and the AFC strongly opposed, forcing him to withdraw it. UEFA subsequently requested documents in August 2026 to support a potential criminal complaint in Switzerland, where FIFA is headquartered, while the Norwegian Football Federation and fifty MEPs officially backed the complaint, making this mobilization the most serious challenge to Infantino’s presidency since 2016.
