Metaplanet, a Bitcoin treasury company, has launched a new corporate bond program called BitBonds and completed an inaugural issuance of approximately 200 million yen, equivalent to about 1.2 million dollars. The private placement covered four series of unsecured bonds with maturities of roughly three years and annual interest rates ranging from 4.0% to 4.3%. This issuance marked the first time that investment opportunities based on Metaplanet’s credit were offered to a broader group of investors, including individuals. The company plans to use its wholly owned securities subsidiary, Metaplanet Securities, as the main distribution channel for BitBonds and future capital markets products.
