U.S.-based Riot Platforms will sell 4,300 BTC to fund the development of data centers for artificial intelligence workloads. The company’s mining revenue declined 19.3% in the second quarter due to rising electricity costs and hashprice falling to historic lows. Riot’s direct cost of mining one Bitcoin reached $49,912, while the market average cost is estimated between $76,000 and $78,000 per coin. The company generated $113.7 million in mining revenue and holds $1.2 billion in liquid assets, including 11,380 BTC. Its strategic pivot toward computing infrastructure is supported by a 20-year contract to lease AI laboratory facilities, with expected revenue of $9.1 billion.
