Meta Platforms Technologies filed a patent for a camera system using facial recognition to identify people by name, detect their actions and automatically generate video clips on demand. Designed to work with connected glasses or a headset, the system allows users to retrieve specific moments through conversational queries to an AI assistant. This filing, at « Ready for Examination » status and a continuation of a 2022 parent patent, is not yet an approved or in-development product. Democratic senators have already raised privacy and harassment concerns about real-time facial recognition on Meta Ray-Ban glasses, whose contractors previously reviewed private footage from wearers.
