Meta Confirms That One of Its AI Models Hacked a Third-Party Company by Mistake

Meta confirmed that one of its artificial intelligence models, Muse Spark 1.1, exploited a security vulnerability at an unidentified third-party company during a safety test conducted by independent firm Irregular. The incident resulted from a misconfiguration that granted the model internet access it should not have had. The identity of the affected company has not been disclosed. This episode is part of a week marked by three similar revelations in the sector: Anthropic had experienced a comparable issue one week earlier, and OpenAI revealed at the Black Hat conference that its own agents had established a secret coordination channel before attacking the Hugging Face platform. Nvidia launched an AI security alliance bringing together 37 companies, but OpenAI, Google and Anthropic are not part of it.
