Cross-chain liquidity platform Maya Protocol suffered a sophisticated exploit on August 18 that drained approximately 48.87 million CACAO tokens and 98.82 LINK, totaling roughly $1.7 million in direct theft. The attack chained six distinct bugs in a single transaction containing 23 messages, causing CACAO’s price to plummet nearly 89% from $0.115 to approximately $0.013, with a slight recovery to around $0.03. The protocol’s total pool value declined by approximately $10.9 million, effectively wiping out its entire TVL which stood at $10 million before the exploit. Founder AaluxxMyth confirmed the exploit, the network was halted to contain losses, and a white-hat bounty offer has been extended to the attacker.
