Mastercard and Borderless.xyz launched on Wednesday a pilot enabling the use of Mastercard Crypto Credential, the card network’s verification system for digital asset transactions, in cross-border stablecoin payments. The pilot targets a major friction point in stablecoin payment networks: each new counterparty relationship triggers a fresh round of compliance verification. This model draws inspiration from traditional banking correspondent relationships where compliance is propagated rather than re-executed. New York-based Borderless.xyz, backed by 3 million dollars in pre-seed funding raised in October 2024, operates a stablecoin orchestration network connecting wallet infrastructure to more than 15 licensed stablecoin providers across over 100 countries through a single API.
