Marmot Researchers Turn to OnlyFans for Funding—And There Are Meme Coins Too

Researchers at UCLA have launched an OnlyFans account called OnlyMarms to fund their long-running yellow-bellied marmot study in Colorado, which began in 1962. The project has raised approximately $4,000 so far, but needs between $75,000 and $100,000 annually to support graduate students and fieldwork. Several OnlyMarms-inspired meme coins have appeared on Solana, though it’s unclear who created them and the researchers are not involved in their creation. Professor Daniel Blumstein said the initiative reflects the challenging state of scientific funding in the United States.
