Kraken crypto options set for Europe as exchange expands derivatives business

Kraken is planning to expand its Bitcoin and Ethereum options platform to eligible European clients in the second half of 2026, marking the next step in its push into regulated crypto derivatives. The contracts, launched on July 16 for eligible professional and institutional clients, are European-style and cash-settled, currently traded through a request-for-quote system. The exchange holds a Cyprus Investment Firm licence and MiCA authorisation through Ireland but has yet to announce a launch date or specify which European jurisdictions will receive access first. The expansion would allow eligible clients to manage positions through a single portfolio-margined wallet, supporting more than 30 collateral currencies.
