Kalshi Warns Users After CFTC Punishes a White House Staff

Gabriel Perez, a White House teleprompter operator, bet on the content of Trump’s speech before it was read publicly. He made a profit of $107,539.02 on these transactions. The CFTC ordered him to disgorge all his profits and pay a $65,000 fine, reduced due to his exemplary cooperation. He also received a three-year trading ban. The fine represents about 60 cents per dollar of profit earned, compared to about $1 for former congressman George Santos in a similar case. Robert DeNault, head of enforcement at Kalshi, warned all users that violating rules or federal law will result in consequences.
