IREN Limited has obtained a conditional base load classification for its 2 GW Sweetwater Hub in ERCOT’s Batch Zero screening process, allowing it to be treated as known demand rather than a speculative queue request. The Sweetwater Hub, located in West Texas, consists of two projects totaling 2 GW: Sweetwater 1 (1,400 MW) and Sweetwater 2 (600 MW). A high-voltage substation was energized on May 1, 2026, enabling the start of construction of 300 MW of gross data center capacity, with delivery expected in Q4 2027. This classification represents a significant advantage for IREN in ERCOT, the nation’s most energy-hungry grid operator, where hundreds of gigawatts of interconnection requests are backlogged. Listed on NASDAQ under the ticker IREN, the company is developing a total portfolio exceeding 5 GW in capacity.
