Iran has released a list of demands for the United States in the ongoing negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz, mediated by Oman. The demands include lifting sanctions, ending the naval blockade, withdrawing U.S. forces, paying war reparations, and releasing frozen Iranian assets. Market activity shows these demands have significantly reduced the perceived likelihood of a U.S.-Iran agreement by the August 15 deadline, with YES shares dropping from 42% to 19.5% in just 24 hours. Confidence in an agreement by August 31 has also declined, falling from 58% to 41.5% over the same period. The Strait of Hormuz remains a focal point for geopolitical tensions, with significant implications for global energy markets.
