Intercontinental Exchange, parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is reportedly in talks to acquire electronic bond trading platform MarketAxess in a deal valued at approximately $6 billion. This acquisition would mark ICE’s biggest push into electronic fixed-income trading, a sector where the group has already invested by acquiring TMC Bonds for $685 million in 2018. MarketAxess, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker MKTX, has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the shift from phone-based dealing desks to electronic platforms over the past decade. ICE also owns Bakkt, a regulated digital asset platform that could serve as infrastructure for tokenized bond products. As of July 30, 2026, no official confirmation had been published regarding this operation, whose completion would depend notably on the premium offered to MarketAxess shareholders.
