Intel plans to raise $15B by selling shares of common stock

Intel is preparing to sell $15 billion worth of common stock, which would rank among the largest equity raises in semiconductor history. The US government took a 9.9% stake in the company in 2025 for $8.9 billion through the CHIPS Act, while Nvidia and SoftBank invested $5 billion and $2 billion respectively. Intel’s market capitalization now exceeds $500 billion and the company generated $16.13 billion in revenue in Q2 2026, up 25.4% year-on-year. This $15 billion capital raise is expected to dilute existing shareholders by approximately 150 million new shares and will fund the company’s capital expenditure target of over $20 billion for 2026, aimed at building advanced chip fabrication facilities.
