Insilico Medicine launched a Phase III trial on July 7, 2026, for rentosertib, its AI-designed oral TNIK inhibitor developed in approximately 18 months, enrolling around 320 patients across 47 centers in China. The trial targets idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive and often fatal lung disease, but the drug acts on cellular senescence, the biological mechanism underlying aging. Phase IIa results published in Nature Medicine in June 2025 showed a mean increase of 98.4 mL in forced vital capacity versus a decrease of 20.3 mL in the placebo group. The company reported positive profit guidance for the first half of 2026, driven by pipeline advancements. Data from this trial, including biomarker analysis of senescence markers, could provide some of the most detailed human evidence yet on whether pharmacologically targeting the biology of aging is feasible.
