Huawei Technologies, the Chinese telecom giant, has been on trial in New York since September 8, 2025, facing federal racketeering and fraud charges. The company, which reported $127 billion in revenue in 2025 and operates in over 170 countries, is accused of using a Hong Kong shell company called Skycom to process over $100 million in transactions in violation of US sanctions on Iran. The group is also suspected of orchestrating a scheme to steal trade secrets from American companies, including a robot arm incident involving T-Mobile. Jury selection, which began at the federal court in Brooklyn, is expected to last three to six months. Meng Wanzhou, Huawei’s CFO and daughter of the company’s founder, is not a defendant in this case after reaching a deferred prosecution agreement in 2021.
