HSBC just hiked its price target for the S&P 500. Here’s what the bank expects

HSBC raised its year-end S&P 500 target to 8,100 from 7,650, representing a 5% increase from Friday’s close. This new forecast implies an approximately 18% advance for the year. Nicole Inui, HSBC’s head of equity strategy for the Americas, cited corporate earnings strength as the main driver, with EPS expansion near 40% in the first half of 2026. She expects growth of at least 25% in the second half, supported by AI capital expenditures. With this target, HSBC becomes one of the most bullish institutions on Wall Street for the S&P 500 by year-end.
