This holiday-shortened trading week, as traders return from Labor Day, features three major events: inflation data (PPI Thursday, CPI Friday) ahead of the Federal Reserve’s September 15-16 policy meeting, where markets are pricing in roughly a 60% chance of a rate hike; Apple’s annual hardware launch event Wednesday, marking new CEO John Ternus’ first event and potentially introducing a foldable iPhone alongside Apple Intelligence; and several investor conferences including Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and Barclays where Alphabet, Microsoft, Salesforce, Nvidia and CrowdStrike will present. Economists surveyed by FactSet expect PPI to rise 0.4% month-over-month and 5.4% year-over-year, while CPI is forecast to increase 0.36% monthly and 3.3% annually.
