Researchers from Harvard and MIT have launched MatrAIx, an AI evaluation infrastructure containing 8.3 billion synthetic personas, roughly one for every person on Earth. Each persona is defined across 1,290 categorical dimensions, and the system maintains assigned personality traits 91.5% of the time during evaluations, achieving 366 out of 400 trials across ten different behavioral attributes. The project includes a database called Persona 8B and four testing environments: Survey, AI Chatbot, Web, and App. Over 1,000 tasks spanning more than 25 domains were assessed across 18,189 evaluation trials. The team publicly released a quality-filtered coreset of approximately 1 million personas, with 600,000 grounded in real human data and 400,000 synthetic.
