A cyberattack against the Direction generale des Finances publiques (DGFiP) allegedly resulted in the theft of tax data belonging to more than 678,000 individuals. Hacker ZeroBytes claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred on June 26, stating they compromised internal servers and used a VPN access to extract the data. The stolen information includes tax identifiers, names, birth dates and places, addresses, family status, reference taxable income, and withholding tax rates. The DGFiP reportedly detected the intrusion during the data exfiltration, which contained 678,438 lines. This data theft could expose victims to phishing attempts, fraud, or extortion, and in some cases to physical attacks, with a record 50 such attacks recorded in France since early 2025.
