Goldman Sachs published a report on July 23 estimating that the US power and grid value chain will need approximately 510,000 additional workers by 2030. Of those positions, roughly 300,000 fall into manufacturing, construction, and operations, while 207,000 sit in transmission and distribution. The current apprenticeship pipeline runs at about 45,000 active energy-related apprentices annually as of 2024, a figure that Goldman estimates needs to jump to around 65,000 per year to meet demand. US power demand is projected to grow at a 2.5% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with planned capital expenditures of approximately $444 billion.
