Proposition de loi n°3090, filed on July 23 at the French National Assembly by MP Paul Midy, proposes six measures to align cryptocurrency taxation with stock taxation. The main measures include taxing governance tokens only upon resale, carrying forward losses over ten years, and exempting cryptocurrency payments up to 1000 euros per year. The bill also provides protection for threatened executives by requiring personal addresses to be hidden under penalty of a 45,000 euro fine, and grants SAS companies access to the European DLT pilot regime to facilitate startup financing. France has become the leading country in Europe for physical violence targeting cryptocurrency holders, with over forty kidnappings, attempted kidnappings or sequestrations since early 2026.
