Jeff Dean, the former chief scientist at Google who left the company earlier this month after 27 years, is advising Generation Z against trying to master all of AI. Instead, he recommends skimming through ten papers rather than reading one in detail, to identify connections between ideas that have not yet been linked together. Dean suggests working on problems that can be solved in approximately five years, neither more nor less. Now the cofounder and CEO of DiscoveryLoop, a startup specializing in AI to accelerate scientific discovery, he remains optimistic about AI’s potential in healthcare and education.
