The Ethereum Foundation has set a December 2029 target to make Ethereum’s Layer 1 quantum-resistant across execution, consensus and data, using that deadline to narrow the scope of Hegotá, the upgrade planned after Glamsterdam. Among 62 submitted improvement proposals, only two received the « must ship » designation: EIP-7805 (FOCIL) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions). The controversial proposal to reduce validator rewards was declined. Meeting the target would require developing five forks after Glamsterdam at an average cadence of 7.2 months per fork. The Foundation is planning for « Q-day » as early as 2030, while acknowledging that most estimates place it later.
