Ethereum reserves on major exchanges have hit multi-year lows with weekly outflows around $25.6 million and some measures showing just 16.2 million ETH available, levels not seen since 2016. Smart contract deployments have jumped roughly 50% above the three-month trailing average, indicating sustained developer confidence in the platform. ETH was trading near $1,907 on August 5, confined to the $1,840-$1,950 band, with over 30% of total supply locked in staking contracts. The convergence of shrinking tradeable supply and rising on-chain activity sets up a critical tension for the second half of 2026, where reduced liquidity could amplify price movements in either direction.
