Equinix seeks at least $3B from latest data center bond sale as AI infrastructure demand surges

Equinix, the world’s largest data center REIT, plans to raise at least $3 billion through a new US investment-grade bond sale amid what Bloomberg describes as a recently weakened debt environment tied to the artificial intelligence boom. The company operates over 270 AI-ready data centers across 77 global markets, featuring high-density power configurations, liquid cooling systems, and robust GPU connectivity for high-performance computing workloads. A secured funding vehicle targeting £280 million backed by two data center assets has also been established in the UK. As a REIT required to distribute at least 90% of taxable income to shareholders, Equinix relies on regular bond market access to fund new construction, having recently locked in capital at 4.400% and 4.700% coupons reflecting the current elevated interest rate environment.
