Duel Casino Refuses to Freeze 230 ETH Stolen in Coldcard Hack, Crypto Community Clashes

Online casino Duel Casino has refused to freeze 230 ETH from the Coldcard hack, sparking a heated exchange with Galaxy Digital. Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, accused the platform of complicity in theft if it failed to block funds with proven fraudulent origins. Duel Casino, represented by spokesperson Korra, maintains its refusal unless a judicial authority confirms the illicit nature of the funds, stating that anyone could freeze an account based on mere allegations. The Coldcard vulnerability, linked to a faulty random number generator in certain Mk3 firmwares, enabled the theft of over 1,800 BTC in four successive waves, representing nearly 89 million dollars according to CoinDesk estimates. This conflict highlights the lack of a regulator and common procedure to adjudicate stolen fund cases, leaving each platform to decide alone whether to act as arbiter.
