DefiLlama delayed mobile launch over phishing apps on Apple Store, founder says

DefiLlama delayed the launch of its mobile app for several months to get Apple to remove phishing apps impersonating the analytics provider on the App Store. Pseudonymous founder 0xngmi said the company had tried for months to get one malicious app removed, but Apple deleted it within days after the team documented funds being drained from a small wallet. DefiLlama waited until all fake apps were taken down before launching its own to prevent users from being scammed. This case is part of a broader trend: apps impersonating major crypto brands, such as Rabby wallet and Curve Finance in 2024, have also been reported on the App Store.
