CXMT sues Pentagon over ‘Chinese military company’ designation

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has filed a lawsuit against the Pentagon to contest its designation as a « Chinese military company, » a classification first made in January 2025 and reaffirmed in June 2026. This placement on the U.S. Defense Department list under Section 1260H may limit CXMT’s dealings with the U.S. government and defense contractors. The outcome of this legal challenge could have implications for other Chinese firms similarly designated, in a context of growing U.S.-China technology tensions.
