Crypto Lost $3.63B to Exploits Since 2025: 60% of Hit Platforms Had Been Audited (CoinGecko)

Crypto platforms lost more than $3.63 billion to security incidents between January 2025 and July 2026, according to CoinGecko. The study documented 245 attacks during this period, with the 10 largest accounting for 72.5% of the total amount stolen. Of these incidents, 147 targeted platforms had been audited beforehand, representing 60% of victims, and these audited platforms account for over 88% of the total capital drained. Infrastructure and supply-chain vulnerabilities caused the most significant losses, with combined losses exceeding $1.8 billion across centralized and decentralized platforms. Meanwhile, active crypto insurance coverage has declined 20.2% to $130.2 million, with five of nine on-chain insurance protocols becoming inactive.
