Crypto Goes Mainstream in Canada, Ownership Reaches 25%

According to a survey by the Ontario Securities Commission, 25% of Canadians now own crypto assets or crypto funds, more than doubling from 10% in 2023. Nearly 39% of Canadian investors own some form of crypto product, and 59% can correctly identify what a crypto asset is. Among crypto owners, 74% actively use their digital assets, with 89% of stablecoin holders using their holdings and 20% specifically using them for international money transfers. The top motivations for buying crypto are portfolio diversification (28%), long-term belief in crypto and blockchain technology (27%), and speculative investing (26%).
