Crypto advocacy groups support CLARITY passage as ethics rules face pushback

The CLARITY Act needs 60 votes to pass in the US Senate, where Republicans hold a 52-47 majority over Democrats. The ethics provisions released by Republicans would bar public officials from issuing or sponsoring cryptocurrencies, but many Democrats say these measures do not go far enough to prevent corruption. Senator Ruben Gallego described the ethics proposals as « not a serious effort ». If the Senate fails to hold a vote before its August recess, consideration could be pushed to the weeks before the 2026 US midterms.
