Cosmos Labs warns of security incident affecting Cosmos EVM module users

Share

Cosmos Labs issued a security warning on August 24 regarding the Cosmos EVM module, a compatibility layer enabling Cosmos SDK chains to run Ethereum contracts. The company instructed validators of affected chains to halt their networks pending further guidance. Several chains have already been targeted this summer: MANTRA Chain suffered a breach between August 20 and 22, forcing a 30-hour shutdown, while TAC was hit on August 22 through precompile-layer vulnerabilities. The current wave of attacks traces back to vulnerability ASA-2026-002, disclosed in March 2026 and linked to the ICS20 precompile that handles cross-chain token transfers. Cosmos Labs has yet to disclose the full list of affected chains or the total value at risk.
