Core Scientific partners with AMD to enhance compute capacity with 2.5 gigawatt deal

Core Scientific, the former Bitcoin miner now listed on NASDAQ, announced a strategic partnership with AMD on July 28. The agreement grants the chipmaker access to over 2.5 gigawatts of data center capacity across Core Scientific’s US facilities, starting with 500 megawatts in 2027 and scalable up to the full amount. AMD will receive warrants for Core Scientific common stock, contingent on hitting commercial milestones. Both companies will collaborate on infrastructure design around AMD’s Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and ROCm software stack. Core Scientific, which emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2024, continues its pivot toward AI and high-performance computing colocation.
