CoinGecko has launched an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server allowing users to access real-time crypto data directly within Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude. Users can query prices, market capitalizations, trading volumes, trending coins, and DEX data through natural language questions. Two access tiers are available: a free keyless version at mcp.api.coingecko.com/mcp and a paid Pro version at mcp.pro-api.coingecko.com/mcp. Developers can also self-host the server using an npm package. The connector launched in beta in mid-August 2025 during an internal company hackathon.
