Coinbase shares fall after crypto exchange posts disappointing second-quarter results

Coinbase posted a loss of $359.5 million in the second quarter ended June 30, or $1.36 per share, far exceeding the 17 cents loss expected by analysts. Revenue came in at $1.2 billion versus $1.3 billion expected, marking the third consecutive quarter of missing Wall Street forecasts. Shares dropped more than 7% after hours. Subscription revenue reached $555 million, compared to $599 million from transactions, offering a bright spot amid broader crypto sector weakness.
