Coinbase enables businesses using Coinbase Business to accept USDC payments from autonomous AI agents through the x402 payment standard, which was introduced in May 2025 for stablecoin transfers over HTTP. The platform has also launched AI-powered trading tools allowing users to monitor orders, access live market data and execute trades based on predefined conditions, along with a software development kit for developers building agent-powered applications. Coinbase stated that these products are designed to support the agentic economy, where AI agents can make payments and manage finances on behalf of users. Agent-generated traffic surpassed human traffic on Base documentation pages for the first time last month, according to the company.
