Cognition, the AI lab behind autonomous coding agent Devin, has acquired The Interaction Company, the startup behind conversational AI assistant Poke, in a low nine-figure deal. Poke, launched in early 2026, allows users to interact with an AI through familiar messaging platforms like iMessage, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The startup raised 15 million dollars in a September 2025 seed round at a 100 million dollar valuation, before reaching a post-money valuation of 300 million dollars in a subsequent funding round. In June 2026, Poke became the first standalone AI agent approved for Apple’s Messages for Business platform. This acquisition, which contains no blockchain components or tokens, illustrates the growing importance of interface design in the competition between artificial intelligence players.
