China PPI jumps 3.5% year over year in July, says National Bureau of Statistics

China’s producer price index rose 3.5% year over year in July, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The figure represents a slight deceleration from June’s 4.1% increase, which was the steepest since July 2022. Factory-gate prices had declined for 41 consecutive months before turning positive. June’s purchasing prices for industrial producers surged 6.4% year over year. Coal mining, electrical machinery, electronics manufacturing, and ferrous metals processing were the primary contributors to the acceleration.
