China Business Journal warns of fraudsters demanding Bitcoin payments in impersonation scam

The China Business Journal, a state-affiliated Chinese newspaper established in 1985, issued a public warning on July 29 about scammers impersonating its journalists. These fraudsters send emails, often from Proton Mail accounts, threatening companies with publishing damaging investigative reports unless they pay ransoms in Bitcoin. The newspaper clarified that it never uses unofficial channels and strongly condemned the practice. The publication stated it is collecting evidence and reserves the right to pursue legal action. No specific payment amounts or confirmed victims have been disclosed at this stage.
