Celtic FC, reigning Scottish champions, have shown concrete interest in 26-year-old Japanese right-back Yukinari Sugawara. The player, under contract with Southampton until June 2028, returns from a season-long loan at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga where he featured in 31 matches. PSV Eindhoven have also positioned themselves to sign the Japanese international defender with over 15 caps. His market value is estimated at around €5.5 million, despite Southampton paying €7 million for him in July 2024. The Saints, relegated to the Championship, need to cut a squad built for Premier League wages.
