Bybit has secured an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) for its subsidiary Bybit Payments GmbH. This license enables Bybit to offer regulated e-money and payment services through the Bybit.eu platform in Europe. Bybit Payments GmbH will focus on payment services while Bybit EU GmbH will continue to provide crypto-asset services under its existing MiCA license. According to Georg Harer, legal and compliance head at Bybit EU, the EMI license complements Bybit EU’s MiCAR authorization and creates complementary regulatory foundations for connecting crypto-assets, payments and everyday financial services.
