Blackstone has secured A$36 billion in financing from ANZ and NAB to acquire HSBC’s Australian retail loan portfolio. This transaction, valued at approximately US$25 billion, represents the largest home-loan portfolio deal ever recorded. HSBC is exiting Australian consumer lending after more than 35 years of operations, retaining only its corporate and institutional banking business. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approval. Pepper Money will handle the day-to-day servicing of the acquired portfolio.
