Bithumb, South Korea’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced plans to complete an IPO by 2028. The three-stage roadmap, revealed on August 3, 2026, includes a transition to K-IFRS accounting standards, a preliminary listing review filing in 2027, and the actual IPO in 2028. A major operational incident in February 2026 saw 620,000 BTC (over $40 billion) accidentally distributed, though 99.7% was recovered. The exchange is working with Samjong KPMG and other advisors to meet institutional-grade standards. The 2028 target remains subject to market conditions and the outcome of the 2027 regulatory review.
