The US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points unanimously, despite pressure from the White House, citing three reasons: a strengthening economy, persistent inflation, and intensifying geopolitical tensions. Bitcoin declined to around $76,000, down 2.6% over 24 hours and nearly 4% over the week, after a brief morning rebound quickly erased by Kevin Warsh’s hawkish tone. Liquidations reached $347.46 million in 24 hours, including a single $18.38 million position on Hyperliquid. Crypto stocks also suffered, with Coinbase down nearly 9% on Tuesday then another 3.75% on Wednesday, while Circle fell 5.63%. The Fed’s PCE index is projected at approximately 3.7% for 2026, nearly double the 2% target, with no rate cuts expected before 2028.
